Campaign for comedic self-help book.
It’s said that laughter is the best medicine. So, it stands to reason a book that combines comedy with personal development may result in a deliciously transformative and equally entertaining literary experience. And such is most definitely the case in And 7 1/2 Other Outrageous Self-Help Principles by stand-up comedian and actor, Thomas L. Christensen - whose alter-ego, singing German life coach Jürgen Liebedich, is given the author credit.
The title and author alone give a hint to the light and enlightened tone of the 20-page coffee-table book, also available in e-book. With tongue planted firmly in cheek, Liebedich follows a typical self-help guide’s format as he outlines each of his seven and a half principles and how to achieve the associated levels of heightened self-awareness and inner peace. The photographs, which are a mix of silly, risqué and downright wacky, add to the hilarity and bring each concept to life. The book also takes a playful swipe at social media, Netflix, online shopping and other cultural staples and rarely misses a chance to take topics on tangents that titillate, pun intended.
